This happened a little more than a week ago.

.
I should have just let it happen.

My wife & I were driving down a fairly commercial area yesterday about noon-ish
, with
two lanes each way with a center median. A late 90's Saturn SL pulls out of a car dealership, right in front of us. The driver didn’t look or, somehow, misses a ‘02 Explorer with it’s fog lights on. I swerved
left and just missed
her. If I would have T-boned her, it would have been very bad. I didn’t know an old Explorer could move that good. I patted the dash and said “good pig”.

The moving from lane one into lane two can be forgiven for not indicating if there was no one else in the lane other than the vehicle they were merging behind, but moving from lane two into lane one without indicating and checking it was safe to manoeuvre is down right idiotic.
But then indicating to turn right at the junction just adds insult to injury.

One phrase: fender guards and push bumpers. If he had done that to me, that would be a very bad night for him.

For whatever reason, YouTube has started recommending road rage videos to me. It’s made me VERY aware that a lot of people who have run out of fucks will side swipe you if you don’t give them enough space to be an asshole.

The 2018 Midterm elections happened on New Year’s Day in 2010?

They are apparently continuing both forwards and backwards in time.

Yikes. I had a similar incident at 65 mph the last time I went to the mountains. Merged into an empty lane and then nearly got squashed by a giant pickup from the left - thankfully I knew the entrance lane I’d just left was still clear but holy shit. I really need to prioritize getting a dash cam.
On a similar note, I got sucked into a downward spiral of reading legal advice on the Just Answer website this morning. The people who write in to that are terrifying: “I let my husband drive my car even though he’s excluded from the insurance and he was drunk and totaled it, why am I financially responsible for the accident ?” “I rear-ended a school bus but it’s not my fault I didn’t see it” “I drove after I lost my license, my car wasn’t insured and I hit someone, how do I sue them?”

Yep, forgot to fix the date and time.

Try to find a dashcam with a wide range of view, preferably around 170°. Here’s one I’m considering:
APEMAN Dash Cam Dual Dash Camera Car DVR Dashboard Recorder FHD Front Camera 1080P Rear Camera 720P 170 Wide Angle with G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording, Motion Detection,Parking Monitoring https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F8YHWVJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9dsFCbFAYCZF3

“Why look where I’m going? Others will get out of my way.”
Last year I had a FedEx truck cut me off just like that, only the driver has moved into the left lane to pass me (as he was going faster), and then just decided to come on over when his cab was even with the front of my car.

Sadly, UPS and FedEx only have drivers from the bottom of the barrel these days. 20-40 years ago, it wasn't like that at all. Those drivers were the best of the best and they were paid well, too!
